About Phone Consultations with Peter Gerlach, MSW

I am physically disabled and, am glad to consult over the phone at a mutually-agreeable time - any day between 9AM and 6PM West Coast (Pacific) time: 1-503-293-8385. I can do videocalls via Skype. Skype video calls work best if you have a headset with a microphone. Typical sessions last ~90" or less, and can be scheduled a few days in advance. I need as much notice of cancellations as possible - no charge.

I ask a maximum of $60 per contact hour, payable to me by Paypal transfer or credit card, or check in the mail. I don't submit charges to insurance companies. Callers can deduct phone costs from what they pay me.

The first call is free, and aims to (a) answer any questions and (b) determine if I can be of service or not, depending on the caller's needs. So before calling, please get clear on (a) what - specifically - you need, (b) what have you already tried, and (c) what did you get?

My goals are to empower each client to identify and fill their own needs well enough, and to put myself out of work as fast as we mutually can without trivializing your situation. I often suggest "homework," and review the results in the next call. I provide a fluid mix of counseling, education, and therapy evolved over 30 years' work with over 1,000 persons, couples, and families.

I take notes to save you from having to repeat yourself. I don't discuss cases with anyone but the client, unless I feel someone is in significant danger, or clients report breaking the law. I'm open to conference calls with two or more people when that seems useful.

I ask a LOT of questions, and listen intently. I often refer to articles and worksheets in the non-profit Break-the Cycle Web site to save us time and your money. To learn more about my education and experience, see this.
